“Shadows and contours” is a theme of Mizuguchi’s artworks. He uses experimental techniques using combinations of various media, such as a glue gun, three-dimensional calligraphy and reflected-light art.
After graduating from the industrial design course at Tokyo Zokei University, he studied design in Ecole Boulle in Paris. He started his career as an artist when he was a student and currently works in France and Japan.
In recent years, he combines the glue gun with techniques of Japanese craft, such as urushi (Japanese lacquer) and gold leaf.
He is the director of RINTARO ART SPACE.
He designed the first three-dimensional font using Hentaigana (the anomalous Japanese syllabary) in the world and won the first prize in “The 3rd Art & Design Awards The New Generation” organized by the writer Hitonari Tsuji.
In addition to having exhibitions as the artist, Mizuguchi is active as a designer, art director, lecturer, calligrapher and photographer.
He aims at designing the world where everyone can take art in everyday life.
